Social Fabric Online Gatherings are BACK for the Fall season, on a new night!
.
Join us Tuesday, September 22nd at 6:30 pm, when we'll talk Changing Landscapes with North Bay-based multidisciplinary artist and community activist, Kim Kitchen @kimkitcheninthestudio
.
In our first hour, Kim will speak about her work, which explores the collective cultural understandings at the intersections of the female body as it finds itself in nature. We'll explore creative shifts Kim has made recently, spurred by a life-changing challenge due to Rheumatoid Disease; and we'll talk about the self-reflexive relationship between ability and artistic & cultural production.
.
We'll then move into shared creative space for our second hour, with gently-facilitated, place-specific artmaking you can do with us from home! All you'll need to bring is a photograph that you can share with us of a feature in your local landscape: something that roots you in knowing that you're home. It could be a big thing - a crevasse in a rock, a tree, a cloud, a sunset - or a small thing - a pine cone, an acorn, a tuft of dandelions.
.
And if you like, please bring your own handwork project to work on during the artist's talk. We'll save time for a show-and-share towards the end of our evening - we'd love to see what you've been making!
.
Everyone is welcome! Zoom link and call-in number will be posted just before the gathering, OR register for details by contacting Artistic Director, Miranda Bouchard, at miranda@thinkingrock.ca
